As according to the norms of designating any conserved area as a national park, the area must be covering a minimum of 20 kilometers of nature consisting of at least fifty percent of preserved region with flora and fauna in abundance and also it must be exuding incomparable natural beauty with different types of phenomena. All these criteria are satisfied to the fullest by the national parks in Croatia as these cover a total area of almost one thousand square kilometers of which about two hundred and fifty kilometers comprises of water and sea and when it comes to natural beauty , the parks exudes incomprehensible diversity through lakes, canyons, rocks, vegetation, endemic species f protected flora, fauna, waterfalls, caves and lots more.
The national parks were not always a part of the Croatia but became nationalized only after the independence of the nation in the 1995.
